General: Mojave Yucca (Yucca schidigera) has long, stout, sword-like leaves that have smooth edges when mature. The leaves are bright green. The plant grows from an upright stalk that grows to about 8 feet high (some are short, but a few are much taller). In the spring, large, plume-like flowerheads are produced on a short stalk that persists after the flowers and fruits are gone.

Mojave yucca is a major component of the Upper Sonoran (Mojave Desert Scrub) life zone, and they extend into the Upper Sonoran (Pinyon-Juniper Woodland) life zone.

Around Las Vegas, look for this species in any middle-elevation desert area, for example at Red Rock Canyon or on the flanks of the Spring Mountains.
