General: Southwestern Bushy Bluestem Grass (Andropogon eremicus) is an uncommon, tall, upright grass that grows in individual clumps (bunches) in damp places the deserts around Las Vegas. Unlike other bunchgrasses, the seedheads are quite bushy and reddish.
Southwestern Bushy Bluestem is an uncommon component of vegetation associations in the Upper Sonoran (Mojave Desert Scrub) and higher life zones. Look for this species near the springs in Calico Basin at Red Rocks NCA.
